vCapacitor
Detailed App Info:
Application Description
Use this visually interactive iPAD capacitor simulation to better understand how capacitors work !
1. Drag your finger along the top plate to make it bigger/smaller
2. Drag the bottom plate to move it towards the top to move the plates closer together/farther away
3. Change the voltage by touching the plus and minus symbols
4. Use the Dielectric drop down menu to add/remove dielectrics
See how these changes affect Capacitance, Charge and Electric Field equations visually in the capacitor animation and numerically !
*Great for students taking Physics and studying Electricity and Magnetism, and teachers who want interactive tablet software for students ! Supported by cutting edge research on visual learning and interactivity at Teachers College, Columbia University.
Note 1 : You must release the bottom capacitor after you move it, by tapping it once, otherwise sometimes the bottom plate sticks
Note 2 : iPhone version not available currently.
