Application Description

SlabEcho models propagation of elastic waves in thin layers of solid isotropic materials. These waves (dilatational only) result from user-specified boundary conditions introduced at either the front or back (or both) boundaries. SlabEcho was designed to be a tool, but it can also be used as an educational aid, or even a game. SlabEcho has been used to assess potential damage mitigation techniques in thin, multi-layered slabs, where one-dimensional response is appropriate.

A library of 39 solid materials is included and some example test cases. The user may easily add to or modify either of these libraries.
