RFID Safe Bus is a remarkably powerful, yet simple app that allows institutions such as schools, day care centers, camps, etc. the ability to document their children’s last known entrance or exit checkpoint while under their care. The RFID Safe Bus app is near field RFID enabled. The RFID reader must be obtained from Safe School Security to ensure compatibility. If the RFID reader is not connected to the iPad, the on-screen keyboard is the default mechanism to enter student identification.

The RFID Safe Bus app is free. Institutions must provide Safe School Security with their student data before using the full version. Due to the sensitive nature of student data, institutions must have a have confidentiality and web hosting agreement in place with Safe School Security before the full version is enabled. Once the appropriate data files have been provided by the institution, each device is registered with Safe School Security to have access to secure server based files describing the bus routes and students assigned to each route for that particular institution.  As students are checked on or off a bus, each institution can elect to have either text messages or e-mails sent to the student's parents or guardians.  The text messages and e-mails are created within a secure server environment based upon the data collected by the app. The app remains in demo mode until an agreement is executed and the production data is provided. The app requires that either WiFi or a Cellular Data plan be active on each iPad before the app will start. Per the EULA Agreement, any GPS data obtained and processed by the app is approximate and for informational purposes only. In demo mode, the app shows that bus route information is required for each student.  The bus route information is then used to validate that the correct student is getting on or off the bus at the correct named stop.
