Ever been stuck on a phone call with a telemarketer? An annoying relative? An old lover or ex-roommate you just don’t want to talk to?

Now there’s an app that gives you the perfect excuse to get rid of them – fast. “Oh God! Gotta Go!” comes with 15 sound effects that will convince even the most tenacious long-distance salesman that some disaster, emergency, or technical problem has befallen you and you really must get off the phone . . . NOW.

Operation:
The main window contains the following list of emergency sounds:
- Baby crying - (“Oh God! I’m babysitting the boss’ kids. Gotta go!”)
- Dogs barking - (“Oh God! There’s a stranger out in the yard. Gotta go!”)
- Alarm clock
- Doorbell
- Explosions
- Tornado siren - (“Oh God! Everyone down in the shelter. Gotta go!”)
- Gun shots
- Pager beeping
- Tea kettle whistling
- Elephant in the kitchen - (“Oh God! I told those kids to leave the elephant outside. Gotta go!”)
- Car alarm - (“Oh God! Someone’s breaking into my car! Gotta go!”)
- Dial tone
- Phone off hook signal
- Another phone ringing - (“Oh God! I’m waiting for a kidney. Gotta go!”)

iPhone Users - -
This application was designed with speaker phone mode in mind. When talking on an iPhone, the sound for all apps comes out of the receiver rather than the speaker. So just tell your caller you need to switch to speaker phone, continue talking for a few seconds, then launch “Oh God! Gotta Go!” and choose a sound from the list. When the sound begins, act surprised, say, “Oh God! Gotta Go!” and hang up. You might embellish this with something specific to the sound you’ve chosen (“i.e. “Oh God! They’re paging me for surgery. Gotta Go!”). Alternatively, you can use it like an iPod Touch (see below).

iPod Touch Users - -
You will be talking on either your cell phone or a land line. Just launch “Oh God! Gotta Go!”, hold your device a few inches from the phone and choose a sound from the list. When the sound begins, act surprised, say, “Oh God! Gotta Go!” and hang up. You might embellish this with something specific to the sound you’ve chosen (“i.e. “Oh God! The police are at my door. Gotta Go!”)

In addition to the sound choices, there’s a bonus “improv” selection which plays a random sound from the above list, so you can improvise a response on the spot.

In keeping with the KLR Applications philosophy of deploying the simplest possible user interface, the Oh God! Gotta Go! application requires only that you start up the program. The software does the rest. No configuration required.
