NVFC Campobasso is a community-based football (soccer) club. Established in 2009 by long-time friends Giancarlo Cusano and Benito Colangelo, the club was created with the desire to bring in players from different walks of life with a unified passion for soccer.

Our club name has two significances:

1) NVFC – an acronym for North Vancouver Federazione Calcio (soccer federation), we are an extension of the 3-Time Champion North Van FC 8-Rinks indoor soccer team (2007-2009).

2) Campobasso – the capital city of Molise, Italy, but also a former championship soccer team in the ICSF Vancouver Italian League.

With our club’s founders all hailing from North Vancouver, and having ties to Campobasso, Italy, we wanted to pay tribute to our home, our heritage, and the former soccer dynasty that dominated Greater Vancouver for many years. We wish to create our own dynasty here on the North Shore. NVFC Campobasso currently has two teams, AC Campobasso (1st Division) & AC Campo Sportivo (CAT Division), that participate in the Vancouver Metro Soccer League (VMSL), and also partake in various tournaments throughout the year. The VMSL, which runs from September to April, features some of the finest soccer that BC has to offer. The league has produced 7 of the last 10 British Columbia Soccer Association Provincial Cup Champions.

Since our inception, we have achieved great accomplishments including:

2011/12 VMSL Division 2 Championship
2010/11 VMSL Division 3 Championship
2011 & 2012 Burnaby 8-Rinks Indoor Coed Championship
Now, as reigning Provincial Champions, our goal is to earn our 3rd consecutive divisional promotion to the VMSL’s Premier Division; the upper echelon of BC amateur soccer. The addition of our CAT Division team for this 2012/13 season has increased membership to over 40 people, and we have already begun plans for an over-35 and women’s team next season. We look forward to seeing our “Campo Family” grow in the near future.

Passionate, family-oriented, eclectic, respectful, ambitious, and devoted are all characteristics that can be used to describe who we are and what we are about. We pride ourselves in having assembled a club that is not only successful on the field, but that emulates these traits. NVFC Campobasso is committed to making community involvement a core value of our club. Each year, we support and participate in numerous community events and causes, and we are also active in fundraising efforts for various charities. We believe that the strength of our club comes from team unity developed through strong ties with our surrounding communities.

Our efforts both on and off the field have not gone without notice. We were just recently voted as the “Best Sports Club 2012″ in the North Shore Outlook’s 6th Annual Best of the North Shore Awards. We are honoured to have been recognized for our accomplishments, and are determined to continue to make a positive impact within our community.
