The main subject of the II Cimeira do Turismo organized by Confederação do Turismo Português (CTP) is “Algarve: building the future” and its goal is to promote the reflection and debate of strategic issues for the sector in the Algarve, one of the tourists’ favourite destinations worldwide.
Tourism has a vital importance for the Portuguese economy due to its ability to generate wealth and employment. It is an area where Portugal has a clear competitive edge, and it is therefore one of the Government’s main focuses to leverage our economy.

The Algarve is the main tourism region in the country. However, despite the efforts in recent years to diversify the offer, this destination continues to be characterized by its seasonality and by the Sun and the Sea product. It is necessary to rethink the positioning of the Algarve, to define new business models and to promote them efficiently and creatively in the domestic and external markets.
The meeting promoted by CTP will debate new ways for maximizing the Algarve, as this is a crucial moment for the development of networking, gathering leaders, opinion makers and relevant professionals of the sector.
