What is this app about?

Solar trackers automatically orient their panels towards the sun in order to maximize the amount of gathered energy. These panels can be
- photovoltaic panels,
- reflectors,
- lenses or
- other optical devices.

Solar trackers dynamically track the position of the sun across the sky during the day. They are in particular used for applications that require a high degree of tracking accuracy like
- concentrated photovoltaic systems (CPV) or
- concentrated power systems (CSP).

The supporting system can either have a single tracking axis (horizontal or vertical) or two tracking axes (horizontal and vertical).

With this app, professionals working in the field of solar tracker design and development can perform a preliminary structural calculation of a solar tracker.

Key features

After setting the geometrical parameters
- panel width,
- panel height or
- ground clearance,

site-dependent factors
- wind velocity,
- field factor,

safety factors concerning
- wind load,
- dead load

and others (e.g. module weight, steel grade), the app optimizes the steel structure weight, outputs the maximum forces and moments acting on the drives and also generates a bill of material for the steel structure.

Please take a look at the user manual for more details.
