*** HOT CURRENT ISSUE - New TGA Australian Health Practitioner Educational Regulations - DEADLINE 19 July 2013***

Grab the App for a one-stop place to keep up with the new TGA regulations proposing to limit the educational content for health care practitioners including naturopaths, herbalists and homoeopaths.

Option 2 of the Proposals 5 & 6 is to limit advertising and information provided to these health care professionals to the same information available to the public, all because their professional bodies have not yet achieved national registration in Australia.

Buy the app and sign up as a Friends of Complementary Medicine (see below) - it’s free, and we will NOT bug you, but we do need your signature and reasons for support of Complementary Medicine and practitioner education.

IF YOU ARE A HEALTHCARE PRACTITIONER in Australia, use the News area to keep on top of the subject, and pass on the information to others and on Facebook and Twitter. And sign on as a FoCM Practitioner and/or Academic

We need a response quickly. You can do it here for less than the cost of a coffee you’d have to buy to talk with colleagues about the issue.

*** About FoCM and CEBCoM ***

We are the Friends of Complementary Medicine (FoCM), and we welcome you to the FoCM App, your source for understanding the news in Complementary Medicine (CM).

This App will give you useful knowledge you can apply to stay healthy and keep out of doctors' surgeries. Download it now to join a vibrant and effective Complementary Medicine community, and to take the critics of Complementary Medicine head-on.

We have a special focus on the Australian, European and US healthcare issues. And yes, we know. - CM is called Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) or Integrative Medicine (IM) in different places. The whole field really needs its own name. But for now, we are sticking with Complementary Medicine.

The App is brought to you by the Centre for Evidence-Based Complementary Medicine (CEBCoM - www.cebcom.net). We are a group of Australian doctors with a combined experience of over 100 years in Orthodox, Integrative and Complementary Medicine. Our goal is to build, gather and interpret the evidence in CM, and to provide that information to practitioners, academics and the public to move CM into the mainstream of healthcare.

This App is a tool to achieve that goal, at minimal cost, and with your input and support. The App is a one-time purchase - a gateway to knowledge for the years ahead.

This App is NOT - UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES - to be used in place of professional advice from doctors or other health professionals. Qualified and independently accredited healthcare professionals are trained to identify pathology and disease states, and to advise on treatment for such conditions. You should listen to them and follow their advice. The information gained from this App may be useful in discussion with such professionals, but is not an alternative to professional advice. Do not be stupid.

Please read and agree to the legal disclaimers in the App on the first registration page. You need to check the box that tells us you have read and agree to that disclaimer before you can use the App.

The App in this first version aims to do three things (we have much more to do in the future):

1.Bring together the latest and most important news and research on CM in a simple interface with simple, expert commentary and links to the original information;

2.To build an online community of public, academics and practitioners who use and support CM, gathering the news and research from that community for all to share and using that community's size and power to counter the (so far) unchallenged views of organised bodies critical of CM; and

3.To address, as a community, threats to the advancement of CM, such as threats to education and accreditation of CM practitioners and cutting off of CM research funding.
