First, it is literature. Second, it is a series of word games.
To play the book cipher word jumble game, use the issued key to identify encoded terms by page, paragraph and word coordinates (for example, 8:3:117). Once you have collected all encoded terms, solve the resultant word jumble and post your answer to assess your accuracy.
The crossword is a standard crossword puzzle with a twist - its clues are sentences from the attached literature and its answers are missing words from these sentences. To solve the puzzle, locate the missing terms and fill in the blanks. There is one small catch, however - the answers are SYNONYMS of the missing words!
